This proposal was developed for clients looking to reimagine their family home to suit a new stage of life.
When our clients first purchased their property 20 years ago, it was with the vision of creating a warm, welcoming family home. Years later, with grown up children and a new lifestyle, they were ready to reimagine the ground floor into a space that reflected their current needs; an open-plan layout perfect for entertaining family and friends without sacrificing intimacy or comfort.

The clients gravitated toward a contemporary aesthetic, favouring bold, darker accents to add depth and contrast. This moody palette was complemented by the use of raw, tactile materials – exposed brick walls and robust stone worktops – that bring a sense of authenticity, quality, and permanence to the space.
At the heart of the design was the desire to make every zone interactive. No one, especially the person cooking, should feel isolated. The open-plan kitchen, dining, and lounge areas were carefully arranged to promote connection and flow, allowing hosts to remain engaged with guests regardless of where the action was happening.
Despite the open layout, the clients also wanted flexibility. It was essential to be able to section off spaces when needed, creating a more intimate setting for everyday living. Thoughtfully placed bi-folding doors and cleverly zoned furniture layouts allow the home to easily transition between expansive entertaining and cozy day-to-day living.

The clients envisioned a dining experience that felt as though they were outside, while enjoying all the comforts of being indoors. Large sliding glass doors, glass atriums, and natural materials create a seamless visual link to the outdoors, blurring the lines between inside and out.

Mood lighting and a high-quality integrated sound system help shape the ambiance, allowing the space to effortlessly shift from vibrant and social to warm and cocooning. Whether hosting a lively dinner party or enjoying a quiet evening at home, the space is designed to make everyone feel comfortable, relaxed and welcome.
This project was a testament to thoughtful, lifestyle-driven design – where beauty meets functionality and every detail serves the clients’ vision for a home that grows and evolves with them.
